Two friends, George Reynolds and Fred Schaeffer, spent 15 hours on an overturned boat waiting for help.

The incident occurred Oct. 18 while they were sailing the Ark Angel catamaran from Salem to Boston, ybw.com writes. After traveling part of the way, George and Fred decided to return due to deteriorating weather conditions. Around four o'clock in the afternoon, the Ark Angel capsized in a strong gust of wind a few miles offshore. Of the communications equipment on board, only cell phones were on board, but they got wet and didn't work.

At one point, Reynolds tried to attract the attention of a passing boat by waving his life jacket, but the wind ripped it from his hands. The friends placed a beam between the catamaran's hulls and spent the night on it. At 7 a.m. they were spotted by a passing fishing boat, Fishy Business, which took them to Salem.

The friends suffered from hypothermia but declined hospitalization.
