The Monaco Yacht Show opened in Monaco, gathering superyacht industry representatives and owners from all over the world every year.

This year 580 companies - shipyards, brokers, naval architects, designers and equipment manufacturers - take part in the MYS. There are 121 superyachts on display on the docks in Hercule Harbour, of which 42 are new. The biggest superyacht on show is Lurssen's 95.2m Kismet, one of the most luxurious boats on the charter market. This year, Kismet was rented for vacation by star couple Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Among the 2018 premieres is Oceanco's 90-metre DAR. The largest sailing superyacht is the 70-metre Sybaris from Perini Navi, while among the newer ones is the 50-metre All About U from Ada Boat Yard for sale. Compared to last year, the average length of all the yachts on the show has increased by a couple of metres. In terms of tonnage, the average length of a M/Y has risen by more than 15% from 623 to 714 Gross Tons.

The total value of boats coming to the show in Monaco is over 3 billion euros.

This year the organizers have built another new berth in the northern part of Hercule Port with an additional line of yachts, replacing the floating pontoon that was previously located there.

Before the official opening at the MYS, the first contract was signed: the German superyacht yard Lürssen will build a 54m four-deck superyacht for an Asian client.
