From world to world: VSY shipyard looking for investors

Italian shipyard VSY is on the lookout for investors and «is actively seeking strategic alliances», reports SuperYacht Times.

This news follows the voluntary resignation of VSY CEO Cristina Longarini. She officially announced her resignation at the beginning of February.

VSY needs investors like air to look to the future and work on new projects.

In other news concerning the Viareggio-based yard , Espen Oeino's64-metre superyacht design is nearing completion. Espen Oeino. She is expected to be delivered to an owner in the next few months.

The naval architecture is the responsibility of VSY with the collaboration of Laurent Giles Naval Architects. With a gross tonnage of 1,100 BRT she will reach a top speed of 17 knots thanks to two Caterpillar 3516B engines of 2,682 hp each.

Highlights will include a gym on the upper deck and a diving center.

A particular source of pride for VSY is the 65m Waterecho. This is a new superyacht project for those who are concerned with environmental and fuel economy issues.

A special version of the Waterecho will be developed that runs on hydrogen fuel cells.

In order to make a real breakthrough in this field VSY has partnered with Siemens and Lloyd's Register of Shipping.

For its ventures to use hydrogen as fuel, VSY even managed to receive an award in December from Lloyd's Register Italia as «Best Italian Customer 2018».
