The huge 136m Lurssen Flying Fox (ex. Project Shu) headed from Bremen, Germany to Stavanger, Norway to end up in the hands of her rightful experienced owner. She underwent sea trials back in March-May 2018.
The Flying Fox is the result of the work of designers Espen Oeino, who was responsible for the exterior, and Mark Berryman Mark Berryman, who handled the interiors, while Imperial acted as broker, owner's representative, and supervisor of the construction process.
The size of Flying Fox, one of the top 20 largest superyachts on the planet, is truly impressive - 136 metres long, as noted, and 20.5 metres wide. Not surprisingly two helicopter pads are available for the 14m and 18m diameter rotorcrafts. These are some of the biggest civil helicopters that have ever been built.
Some nice features, such as the sea terraces, the large swimming pool across the main deck aft, are also included.
Despite the apparent gigantism of the Flying Fox, Oino masterfully managed to create a sleek look with curved lines.
The owner purchased the 136-metre Flying Fox to replace the 74-metre Nobiskrug, which was renamed from Flying Fox to Dytan after the sale.
The Lurssen yard currently has two more projects in the pipeline that are expected to be completed by the end of this year. They are the 111m Project Tis and the 95m Project Fiji.
