The BoatUS Association of America has published a ranking of the most common names that US residents give to their boats. In 2014, this list was presented for the 24th time.
The top ten popular names included (in descending order): Serenity, Second Wind, Island Girl, Freedom, Pura-Vida, Andiamo, Island Time, Irish Wake, Happy Hours, Seas the Day.
«We found out that people who name a boat Second Wind (Second Breath or New Beginnings) are usually recovering from a divorce, serious illness or other difficult situation. Those who name the boat Island Girl or Island Time are more carefree and want to escape routine.
And of course, those who prefer names like Happy Hours, like to spend weekends with the family or have parties on the boat», the press release said.
