Solar powered trimaran concept shown

Designer Margo Krasožević has unveiled a concept for an eco-friendly trimaran with retractable hydrofoils.

The unparalleled vessel, according to the design, is to be equipped with a huge rigid Kevlar sail, miniature solar panels and catch not only tailwind but also solar energy. To make the sail absorb as many photons as possible, the ship's hull will be covered with small Fresnel lenses and a special reflective film which will redirect the light falling on it directly to the light panels.

The collected amount of energy should be enough to power all the equipment onboard the boat, and the energy can also be used to move the boat in windless weather.

But one question arises: how to be on deck with so much light? The insolation must be absolutely exorbitant.

However, this project is just a visualization of a new environmentally friendly idea, and the work on it is in full swing. According to the project's author, he wants to invent the way to collect kinetic energy emitted during the motion of the ship.

If built, it would cost about £10 million.
