Duchess of Cambridge Kate visited the Ben Ainslie Racing team's training base in Portsmouth. During the visit, the royal family spoke with the sailors, learning about their preparations for «the America's Cup» and preparing the location for the America's Cup World Series this coming July.

The Duchess also spoke to children sailing with the support of the 1851 Trust and attempted to paint an AC 45 catamaran.

It will be recalled that the British team, led by Olympic champion Ben Ainslie, announced

their participation in the biggest event last summer, a little later it was announced that preparations for the event will take place in Portsmouth, which will also host a number of preliminary races.

Kate Middleton, for her part, has long been known as a sailing enthusiast. Last year she managed to beat her husband, Prince William,

in an amateur mini regatta.
