Classic elegance

Majestic sailing boats, lacquered motorboats and even a steamboat are the main attractions of Monaco Classic Week.

This time, the theme uniting the biennale was American yacht building. More than 130 yachts from 26 countries gathered in the harbor for this event. Some of the participants reached the age of 110 years.

A special guest of this year's Monaco Classic Week was the 78.5-meter SS Delphine built in 1921, the largest active steamer in the world.

Most of the fleet was made up of sailboats. 74 of them are of the Classic type (boats built in 1950-1970) or Metric type (yachts of the first half of XX century for the America«»'s Cup «or similar in size and displacement).

The fleet of motor boats was much more modest - «only» 35 boards.

Throughout the Monaco Classic Week, sailboats participated in the regatta.

The owners of motor boats also found something to do - they competed in agility and accuracy of driving.

The smallest part of the sailing fleet was represented by twenty-five 3.6-meter sloops. They also competed with each other.

The motorboat competition was much faster than sailing, so there was time for a joint picnic at sea.

The viewers on the beach were not forgotten either. The embankment was freely open to visitors. They could not only admire the races or the parade of ships in the harbour, but also see about 20 themed exhibitions and try dishes from chefs.

For the past 25 years, Port Hercule in Monaco has hosted Monaco ClassicWeek, a biennial biennial of classic yachts. The 14th edition of this event took place in this area from 11 to 15 September.
