Courantin de Chatelperron intends to sail from Sydneyto Brittanyin a 15-metre catamaran made of natural fibres: jute, hemp and flax. He plans to be self-sufficient on the voyage, turning the boat into a small farm with chickens, pygmy pigs and a kitchen garden to grow spirulina. Interestingly, de Chatelperron intends to water the protein-rich algae with his own urine, which will serve as fertilizer at the same time. In the meantime, let's take a look at his 2013 voyage on the Bengali-style boat "BengalGold," a 100% jute-based fishing boat on which he first tested the idea of self-sufficiency. The photo shows the construction and operation ofBengal Gold.
