Adidas will make sneakers from marine debris

Adidas has announced its intention to make sportswear and footwear from garbage recovered from the ocean floor.» The company will recycle dumped plastic into the water and make it into materials that will be used to sew the «green collection.

Adidas is partnering with the Parley for the Oceans project, which works to clean up the world's oceans.

When exactly the collections, sewn from recycled materials, will appear on the shelves and at what price, has not yet been reported.

According to a study published by Science, between 5 and 13 tons of plastic waste was dumped in the ocean in 2010 alone.

Earlier on the similar decision - to use discarded waste in the sea - was announced by H&M. The fashion giant promised to start making clothes from sea garbage by the end of 2015.
