Unidentified wreckage has been found in the search area for missing British yachtsmen.

A small vessel taking part in the search operation on a voluntary basis reported the find to the US Coast Guard. It is not clear whether the pieces of wood and plastic lying on the water are parts of the ship Cheeki Rafiki, BBC specifies.

According to the rescuers, the wreckage surfaced quite recently - it means they belong to the ship, which sank only a few days ago.

Recall that the British sailors, who were heading from Antigua to Europe, disappeared last Friday. The search for the sailors started on the same day. Then 50 hours later the search was stopped but requests of family and friends of the missing crew and a petition appeared in the Net forced US authorities to resume rescue crews' work. A little later, volunteers joined the search.
