A Byzantine ship was found at the bottom of the Black Sea

An ancient ship has been found at the bottom of the Black Sea. According to the press service of the Southern Military District (SMD), an ancient ship 125 meters long is located near Sevastopol and was found by participants of the deep-sea research club «Rostov-dive».

Scientists who examined the ship, say that the ship allegedly belonged to the Byzantine merchant fleet and carried oils and wines: on board rarity found hundreds of amphorae. It is not yet known when the ship was sunk and why.

It is possible that the discovery of the ship was the largest in the history of the last century and has a huge historical value, experts say. However, it will be possible to say for sure after detailed work with the object. This will take about two years.
