The athletes and amateurs lasted 12 seconds on a board that was 42 feet long and 11 feet wide.
The previous record was set about a decade ago, when 47 surfers lasted ten seconds on a 39-foot board.
The event in which the record was set took place in Huntington Beach, California. About five thousand spectators gathered to support the record holders.
