Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats has announced that its founder Michael Fiore passed away on the evening of 26 August.

The cause of the untimely death of Michael Fiore, 44, was an accident on the water: the Outerlimits 46 catamaran capsized at around 150 mph (241.4 km/h).

The tragedy happened on Saturday during the 2014 Outfits race. Michael Fiore and Joel Begin were aboard the vessel. Fiore died in hospital after surgery, his partner is in hospital.

When the shipyard founder's farewell will take place has not yet been announced.
