The yacht Nibani washed up on the beach of the tourist port of Ostia. The boat lost control immediately after entering the port and was slowly swept ashore.

The port authorities called in two tugboats, divers and a vessel to deal with a possible fuel spill. Port operations were suspended until the vessel was hauled into open water. The operation to move Nibani began early the next morning at high tide. The yacht was towed from the beach with her stern facing forward and taken to a nearby shipyard for repairs.

Nibani was built in 1971 by the Maritima De Axpe yard. She is a steel vessel with traditional interiors and can accommodate 10 guests and 9 crew members. The yacht is equipped with two Caterpillar diesels with a combined power of 930 hp and is capable of reaching a speed of up to 12 knots.
