A helicopter that fell in the Gulf of Finland tried to avoid a collision with a yacht

On Friday, September 19, a helicopter fell into the Gulf of Finland. According to law enforcement authorities, it was flying low enough over the water and made a sharp maneuver to avoid collision with a yacht. However, the helicopter propeller hit the water surface, the aircraft crashed into the water near the Marine quay of Vasilevsky Island.

There were two people on board of the helicopter. One of them was hospitalized in a state of shock with a broken arm, while the other one died.

More than 47 people were involved in the rescue operation, while 6 vehicles were used.

Exactly which aircraft was crashed is not reported, but it is believed to have been a Eurocopter AS341. Which boat was involved in the incident is also unknown.
