The junior model of the twin-mast catamaran, known as Fifty Fifty, passed its first test in the waters of Keszthely on Lake Balaton. It had a promising start, but last Monday, at high speeds, the boat overturned: both hulls cracked in the middle and the rigging collapsed into the water. Fortunately no one was injured in the accident and the boat is repairable.

One of the masterminds of the unique multihull, and experienced skipper Márton Józsa, said he would continue to work on the catamaran when he understood the reasons for the accident.

The younger version of the vessel, whose trials failed, is 10.6m (35ft) long and has two 19m masts.

Fifty Fifty is a catamaran with a double set of rigging. Hungarian company Pauger Yachts unveiled the first such catamaran with a length of 15 meters (50 feet) in 2012. That same year the vessel, also named Fifty-Fifty, broke the speed record for the 150km Blue Ribbon Regatta.
