Stefania Elfutina became world youth windsurfing champion

World Championship in Olympic RS:X class was held in Eilat, Israel. Russia's Stefania Elfutina finished the championship in fifth place overall and became the world champion among the athletes under 21.

Even disqualification received in the third qualifying race for touching with a British woman, Bryani Shaw, while rounding the sign, did not stop the Russian athlete.

«I am very satisfied with my performance; now it is important to correctly calculate everything in order to reach the peak form for the main start of the season», shared her impressions after the end of the regatta.

Another Russian cross-country dancer, Olga Maslivets, also made it to the medal podium. She finished the regatta on 10th place.

Another Russian junior, for whom this championship was the first in her career, Mariam Sekhposyan raced very well, finishing in the top 5 twice in races, selected for the gold fleet and finished the regatta in 24th place overall and 6th place among competitors under 21.

On the women's side, Malgorzata Bialeska of Poland celebrated winning the 2016 World Championship in the Olympic RS:X class, silver went to Briton Bryani Shaw and bronze went to Dutchwoman Liliana de Goos.

Piotr Myrzka of Poland became the men's World Champion in windsurfing. He beat his closest pursuers from the Netherlands Dorian Van Risselberghe and Kieran Badloe by 16 points. Maxim Oberemko is the best of the Russians, 21st. Junior Evgeny Aivazyan managed to get into the top ten under-21s, finishing ninth. He is 40th in the overall standings.
