To mark the fiftieth anniversary since Sir Robin Knox-Johnston's first non-stop solo circumnavigation of the world as part of the Sunday Times Golden Globe Yacht Race in 1968-1969, the UK will hold a celebratory regatta. The race will start from Falmouth on June 14, 2018. Competitors will have to circumnavigate the land and return back to Falmouth.

According to the rules, racers will have to dispense with modern technology and satellite navigation, and use boats between 32 and 36 feet long, made before 1988, and similar in characteristics to the ketch «Swahili» on which Knox-Johnston sailed. By the way, the legendary yachtsman himself will be at the start with «Swahili» and he expects his Sunday Times Race rivals to join him in supporting the youngsters.

Several sailors have already announced their willingness to participate in the regatta. Among them are Don McIntyre (Australia) and Chris Jacks(Great Britain). In total up to 20 athletes can take part in the competition.

Interestingly, prizes will go to anyone who finishes before 3.25pm on April 22, 2019. That is, all those who beat the time shown by Knox-Johnston.
