The eighth round of the Volvo Ocean Race has come to an end. Team SCA women's crew won the race from Lisbon to Lorient. This is the first victory of the women's team at any stage of the race in the last 25 years.

The girls have needed 3 days, 13 hours, 11 minutes and 11 seconds to complete the route.

Second place went to Team Vestas Wind, the team who have not raced since December because of an accident. They covered the distance in 3 days, 13 hours, 59 minutes and 38 seconds.

In third place was Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, fourth by MAPFRE, fifth by Team Brunel and sixth by Team Alvimedica. Dongfeng Race Team is at the end of the sequence.

The next leg of the round-the-world regatta, from Lorient to Gothenburg, will start on June 16. The approximate date of boats' arrival in the port is June 22. It is worth noting that this will be the last leg of the trip; the best of the season will be defined on its basis. As of now, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing is in the lead in the overall standings.
