Authorities in Florida are investigating the circumstances surrounding a tragedy that happened on Thursday, July 2. A giant sturgeon jumped into one of the boats on the Suwanee River.

The fish fell directly on a five-year-old girl. The girl's mother and her nine-year-old brother were also injured by the animal.

At the moment, the woman and the boy are in hospital with injuries of varying severity. Unfortunately, the girl died on the spot.

According to local authorities, this is the first case of a sturgeon accidentally killing a person, but there have been several incidents this year when a fish with an average weight of around 90 kg jumped out of the water and landed on people passing by on boats.

Recall that a dolphin jumped into a couple's boat in California last week. The mammal broke the legs of a middle-aged woman.
