On July 30, PROyachting will hold a charity regatta in support of Pavel Sozykin, who was not allowed to the Olympics in Rio by the decision of the International Sailing Federation (World Sailing).
Regatta will take place on July 30 at the Aquatic Stadium. The participation is free of charge. Contributions are optional.
The reason for the suspension of Pavel Sozykin from the Russian Olympic team was his mentioning in the report of the special commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). As Pavel Sozykin competes in the crew-pair 470, the International Sailing Federation considered it possible to replace him with another athlete.
The WFSF stated that it was convinced that Sozykin had never been doped. The Federation requested additional materials regarding the mention of the Russian athlete's name in the WADA report.
