Princess has cut jobs in Plymouth

Press reports that all is not well in the «British kingdom». A pillar of British yacht building, the Princess shipyard is set to make a reshuffle at its Plymouth production facility.

Managing Director Chris Gates explained that last year was a tough one for everyone, but that the yard had weathered the adversity with grace. To continue to stay in strong financial shape, the company is planning a restructuring that will result in the reduction of 55 employees.

There are currently 2,148 people working at the Plymouth facility.

In 2013, the government invested £4.6m into the Plymouth shipyard, which was to provide 400 new jobs for the city.
