Innovative Pershing 5X Factor shown at Cannes

The X in the name of the new Pershing 16.5m yacht refers to its innovative nature. This is the designation used in the aerospace industry for experimental aircraft.

One of the features new to the Pershing 5X Factor that the Italian yard has not previously introduced is a hydraulic floating transom platform that plunges half a metre into the water.

Spread the safety net around its perimeter and the 4.3m wide platform will be transformed into a kiddie pool.

The Pershing 5X is the result of a collaboration between the Ferretti Group's engineers and naval architect Fulvio De Simoni, who designed the aerodynamically shaped fins that protect the sides of the cockpit.

The fins, together with the rear glass doors and windows, automatically seal the cockpit during bad weather, allowing the heating or air conditioning to be turned on.

On a sunny day, the doors, windows and sunroof flap open, turning the Pershing 5X into an open-air yacht.

The cockpit is equipped with a large sunpad, two lounges, and a wind bar to enjoy the ride in all weathers. The lower deck features a full-beam master suite, a dinette and a second VIP cabin forward. Upon owner request the dinette can be converted to a third guest stateroom or to a crew cabin with direct access from the wheelhouse.

Pershing yachts have always been renowned for their speed, and in this sense the 5X Factor is no exception.

With two Volvo D11 IPS 950 725 hp each she reaches a top speed of 35 knots. «And pumped up Volvo CAT 12.9 1,000hp each combined with partially submerged propellers give» a top speed of 45 knots.

They found buyers as Pershing announced the 5X Factor. The yard was able to sell 6 of the hulls before construction even started. We would not be surprised if the Cannes premiere seriously increased this number.
