OC Sport, organizer of the Extreme Sailing Series stadium-format sailing races, will replace the Extreme 40 catamarans with GC32 catamarans. The new boats will enter the water next season.

The organizer announced his decision immediately after the end of another stage of the popular regatta which was held in St. Petersburg. The video announcing the future changes was recorded at the Peter and Paul Fortress where we wrote our reports quite recently.

How are the new catamarans better than the tried and tested Extreme 40?

They can «fly», just like the hydrofoil-equipped America's Cup boats «» , and they can reach speeds of up to 40 knots.

According to OC Sport, the regatta has already reached the point where it needs a breath of fresh air. The GC32s are already stepping up to the plate to add a little more excitement and a little more innovation to the OC Sport fleet. However true it is, on small limited race courses, the so-called "stadiums", in calm winds, there is more than enough excitement and thrills for spectators on the shore and competitors on the boats.

The contract between OC Sport and The Great Cup BV, manufacturer of GC32, has already been concluded and the fleet for the new season is already booked.
