The 14-metre yacht Princess was washed off the side of a cargo ship and crashed onto rocks off the coast of Norway.

The 90-metre cargo ship Kristian With was transporting boats from Moldo on the west coast of Norway to Oslo in the southeast. As the ship passed the southwest coast, a huge wave washed one of the boats off the deck. The 14-meter Princess was not so lucky.

The dry cargo vessel belonged to Egil Ulvan Rederi AS, which has been engaged in yacht transportation since 1967.

According to its owner and CEO Egil Ulvan, «this has never happened before».

The cargo ship's insurance company sent a rescue tug, but rough sea conditions made it impossible to tow the boat. The boat drifted for over 7 hours and then ran aground south of Egersund. The boat then crashed on the rocks and sank.

This is the second Princess yacht in the last few weeks to be destroyed in an accident. On 21 January, Princess 95 Queen Anna, owned by Ukrainian oligarchs the Buryak brothers, burned down in Turkey.
