The project of the All-Russian Sailing Federation - the regatta series «National Sailing League» - won the nomination «Best national programme to promote sports and healthy lifestyles» annual national award «Sport and Russia».
The award ceremony was held on March 18 in Sochi.
«For us, this award is yet another indicator that we are moving in the right direction, - commented Vladimir Silkin, President of the Russian Sailing Federation. - The project is growing - the number of teams is increasing, major partners and media partners are joining in. I am confident that the 2016 season will be incredibly interesting and exciting».
The regatta «National Sailing League» has been held by the Russian Yachting Federation since 2015. The competition is held in several stages in different Russian cities among the best yacht clubs of the country. All crews race on J70 boats.
In 2015, the winner of «National Sailing League» based on the results of four stages held in Konakovo, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Sochi, was the team of the Moscow Yacht Club «Navigator».
In the new season the organizers are planning to increase the number of the League stages to seven, expanding the geography of the competitions to Kaliningrad and Vladivostok. The test stage of the regatta «National Sailing League» was held among the strongest yacht clubs of Russia in 2014.
«The National Sailing League» is not the only sailing project awarded with the «Sport and Russia award». The award winner in the category «Best yachting development project in the Russian Federation» was the Port of Sochi Grand Marina.
The national award «Sport and Russia» is initiated by the foundation «Social Projects» with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. Every year the Expert Council recognizes leaders in the field of sports promotion in Russia. The forum and award ceremony traditionally gathers sports stars and top managers of companies working in the field of professional and amateur sports.
