Italian designers from Jet Capsule have developed a concept of a watercraft that resembles a flying saucer.
The rest of the circumference is occupied by an adjacent area where you can plant a flower garden, walk your dog, or ride your bike.
The upper, flooding part of the 7.2-foot-tall spherical cabin houses the kitchen, living and dining areas.
The lower, underwater portion, with the same height of ceilings and a large window for observing life in the deep ocean, houses the bedroom and bathroom.
The maximum speed that the unusual houseboat can reach is 3.5 knots (6.5 km/h), thanks to the Torqeedo Deep Blue 1800 waterjet electric motor. The engine is connected to a battery which stores energy generated by 40 square meters of solar panels. Additional sources of energy can be installed on the vessel, such as a wind turbine and a hydraulic turbine.
It is assumed that a generator converting rain and sea water into drinking water will also be installed on board.
Jet Capsule is currently looking for investors to build the first working prototype of the UFO. It is estimated at $800 thousand. When serial production is established, the cost of one such floating house will be reduced to $200 thousand.
