The Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA ) appointed a new board of directors at its annual general meeting held in France at the end of April.

«This year we have a very strong and energetic team to lead the new projects," said Fiona Maureso, president of MYBA. - There are now nine people on the board instead of eight last year, four of whom are new faces on the board of directors».

There is also a new position on the board responsible for training new people in the yachting industry. Because of the booming trend in yacht sizes, the industry will face a shortage of qualified crew members in the near future, according to MYBA. The association will focus on helping to train and employ them.

Another key focus for MYBA this year will be a review of the association's bylaws, which need to be updated to reflect new business practices and changes in the law. For example, there will be a review of the Memorandum of Agreement, which has remained unchanged since 2008, and the current charter agreement, which needs to be brought in line with legislation (on October 1, the moratorium on fuel duties ends).

Composition of the new MYBA board of directors: Fiona Maureso (sales, taxes and legislation), Niall Robinson (yacht management), Adelheid Chirko (chartering), Guy Joyo-Bourgeois (membership), James Graham-Cloett (charter exhibitions), Martha Iglesias (IT), Tove Johnson (communications), John Wyborne (competence, education and training), Maura Zane (social affairs).
