Organizers of budget sailing training in Orekhovo Bay near Moscow have established the Wind Force Cup, an amateur regatta on Platu 25 yachts, held on Sundays throughout the season in several stages.
The first round of the Power of the Wind Cup ended at Pirogovskoye Reservoir on July 8. The next stage will start on July 23. For each stage a team receives points (they are equal to the place occupied in the stage), the points are summed up and by the end of the season the winners are revealed.
Only a team of 5 members is allowed to take part in the competition. The price for each crew member is 2100 rubles. Even absolute beginners in sailing can take part; in this case a coach will accompany the team on board and the results will not count in the overall standings.
Besides training in Moscow region, «Power of the Wind» periodically organizes sailing expeditions in North Karelia, Italy, France, Faroe Islands, Canary Islands, and Lofotenach.
