The 50m Project Akoya by Heesen Yachts has been delivered to an owner based in Malta. The all-aluminium semi-displacement yacht underwent sea trials in late May and was photographed mooring in the port of Valletta in June.

The naval architecture of the vessel was developed by Heesen in collaboration with Van Oossanen. Her streamlined, efficient hull design has reduced engine power requirements and fuel consumption.

Powered by the latest MTU 16V 400 M73L, Akoya can reach speeds of up to 23 knots. At a cruising speed of 11 knots, she has a range of 3100 nautical miles.

Akoya is the fifth in a series of 50 meter semi-displacement yachts built by Heesen. The exterior of the vessel was designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. The characteristic curved superstructure lines have created a dynamic and distinctive characteristic to the exterior styling of the yacht.

Project Akoya is also notable for its large outdoor seating areas and in particular the 70m2 sandeck.

Italian designer Cristiano Gatto is responsible for the stylish interior design, which features three main materials: teak, stainless steel and leather. The interiors of the main salon and sky lounge show distinct Art Deco influences with furniture inspired from the 1930s. With a gross tonnage of just under 500 BRT, this roomy yacht can comfortably accommodate 12 passengers in six staterooms.
