People who had rented the 35-meter superyacht Koi last weekend for a pleasant stay in Greece did not wait for the boat: on the way to Itea, where customers were waiting for her, the yacht burned to the ground and sank.
The alarm was given at 8:45 a.m. on September 9, when a heavy smoke was detected between Kefalonia and Zakynthos.

The fire started in the engine room and very quickly engulfed the entire vessel. Fortunately there were no injuries: the crew, four men and three women, were rescued by the Afroditi fishing boat.
Koi was built by McMullen & Wing in 2001. She was a modern vessel with a spacious saloon, wine cellar and gym. The four staterooms provide comfortable accommodation for up to 9 guests.

It was not the first such case in Greece this year: in April a 34-meter Saint, also a charter boat, burnt down near the island of Mykonos. The fire again broke out in the engine room. Apparently, the Greeks exploit the charter fleet hard...
