Thanks to the swiftness of the rescue teams, the coordinated actions of the crew and the resilience of the 75-foot yacht itself, the Sunseeker Predator, which struck rocks in the British Gulf of Moelfre, was safely transported to safety.

Although RNLI volunteer rescuers responded very quickly to the distress call, by the time they reached «Predator», its engines were no longer working, the engine room was flooded and the boat was rapidly gaining water.

The three passengers on board were immediately evacuated, while crew members were left fighting to keep the luxury yacht afloat. « » The vessel, worth more than £1 million, was only able to be pumped out with the help of three pumps.

Too much damage made it impossible to tow Sunseeker for any significant distance. In addition there was no vessel in the area large enough to lift the 23-metre boat aboard. Therefore, the decision was made to bring her ashore in Bomaris.

Following the operation, which involved three RNLI crews from Moelfre, Bomaris and Llandudno, as well as two local Coast Guard teams, the Predator is now waiting for specialists to decide whether the hull can be patched in place and sent to repair docks.

Nigel Gar ner, navigator of one of the RNLI dinghies said the rescue was «challenging for everyone involved, but fortunately it ended in the best possible way, given the circumstances».

The Predator series boats were originally positioned by the British shipyard as fast, manoeuvrable and stylish. They combine innovative technical solutions with ultra-modern design.

How did it happen that the big powerful yacht hit the rocks the experienced Sunseeker crew was too shy to comment on the media.

However in this story the boat was much luckier than the 14-meter Princess 1,5 years ago in Norway, but then the nature itself was against the boat and sometimes it is very difficult to argue with her.
