A man who crashed his yacht into Palm Beach Beach after several long-island trips is demanding that the city and local police pay him $450,000 in damages. He has filed a lawsuit to that effect in court.

Thomas Baker, owner of the 22-foot Time Out boat that failed to enter the Palm-Beach Inlet, said city officials should have secured his property while he was under arrest for DUI, but failed to do so.

The yacht, which had crashed into Palm Beach due to the owner's fault, had been sitting on the shoal for almost a month, tumbling on its side.

A huge amount of debris had accumulated on the beach, consisting of debris from furniture and belongings washed off the yacht. Eventually, the obligation to clear the beach of debris and clean up the vessel was taken over by city officials.

According to Thomas Baker's attorney, Jody Foster, the police department and local city officials should have towed the boat to safety immediately after he was apprehended.

Foster stressed that police officers refused to allow Baker to set up a rescue operation.

During the weeks that the owner spent in jail, the boat was badly damaged by water and other outside factors.

It should be noted that the value of the yacht Time Out is estimated at 500 thousand dollars.
