The Port of London has launched the free PLA Tidal Thames Navigation App. The app provides a tidal chart of the 95-mile river and delivers real-time tidal information from 12 different locations on the Thames. The app is connected to the Mariners Alert system and notifies the user of engineering works and the latest changes in legislation relating to water use.
The app has a built-in calendar of events on the Thames, which shows scheduled sailing and rowing events. The app includes information on all mooring locations on the river and a list of services available at each.
"Every year more than a million users visit our website looking for different navigational information. Thanks to the app we have been able to bring all navigational information together in one place, which I hope will make planning a trip on the Thames easier and increase the safety of using the river," commented the launch of the PLA Tidal Thames App by Port of London Captain Bob Baker.
