On the territory of the Sochi yacht port «Imeretinsky» in the future it is possible that a shipyard will be opened, Vladimir Chubarov, the captain-mentor of «Imeretinsky» said.

«In the future we may start yacht building ourselves. As we have our own production facilities and qualified personnel,», - he said.

At «Imeretinsky» there is a technical service which carries out repairs of yacht hulls and engines. The port is also equipped with cranes of high lifting capacity.

The immediate plans of the port include opening of an improved promenade early this season, enlarging the water anchorage areas and building new piers.

Also there are plans to organize storage and repair of ships in warm hangars.

The yacht port «Imeretinsky» accepts vessels up to 15 m long with a draught of 7.65 m (i.e. weighing up to 200 tones) for sheltering and up to 150 tones for dry storage. Currently, 147 different vessels are anchored at «Imeretinsky», 63 of them are kept in the water and 84 in the dry storage area on the shore. Altogether the port is able to receive about 300 ships. This year, the dry storage area has been doubled, and now it is 15,000 sq. m, a record for Sochi.
