Aurelius Equity Opportunities SE & Co, which owns Hanse Yachts, has acquired a majority stake in French catamaran builder Privilege . With the exception of CEO Gilles Wagner, who will remain in his position, all other Privilege shareholders have sold their shares in the company.

Privilege will continue to exist as an independent brand. The shipyard's production facility in Les Sables d'Olonne will be maintained and expanded.

All yachts currently under construction at Privilège will be handed over to their owners as planned, and all current models will continue to be available for order, according to a Hanse Group press release.

Meanwhile, Hanse Yachts and Privilege will work closely together, sharing expertise in series production of motor yachts and catamaran construction.

«The market for luxury catamarans has grown strongly in recent years. Until now Hanse Yachts has been unable to enter this market because it was not possible to produce yachts of the required width on the existing production facilities. In recent weeks we have analyzed the shipyard and Privilège products in detail and found that the philosophy and products fit in with our corporate culture," comments Gert Purkert, Member of the Aurelius Executive Board, "The Privilège brand complements the HanseYachts portfolio perfectly».

He said that in the future Hanse Yachts' Greifswald site will produce parts for Privilege catamarans, which the French shipyard has so far purchased from third parties.

«Hanse Yachts is much bigger than Privilege and has a global presence. Our customers will benefit from joining a strong global network of sales and service outlets»," said Privilege CEO Gilles Wagner.
