Superyacht ran over six boats while trying to leave the marina

The 53-meterTalesrammed several smaller boats moored nearby on its way out ofPortofinoMarina. A total of six yachts were damaged.

Eight passengers and twelve crew members were aboard Tales at the time of the mishap, none of whom were injured.

It is reported that the accident was caused by a reversing mechanism malfunction.

After the yacht lifted anchor, the crew was unable to switch from reverse to forward. The vessel continued to reverse and struck boats moored nearby, the marina manager said.

«We interviewed the crew and passengers and also studied CCTV footage that filmed the incident. No one was injured and there was no damage to the environment either»," he said.

Tales is currentlyupfor sale through Burgess for €15 million and is a 2002 built by Turkish yardProteksan Turquoise. She has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure and is powered by two Caterpillar 1,500 hp engines, providing a top speed of 14 knots. On board there is a bar, Jacuzzi and barbecue as well as six cabins for twelve passengers.
