Construction of the world's largest aluminium sailing yacht has started at the Royal Huisman shipyard in Wolenhove, the Netherlands.

The customer for the modern 81-metre schooner is from Asia. The project was presented at the Monaco Boat Show in 2016.

The naval architecture of the three-masted sailing vessel was designed by Dykstra Naval Architects, the exterior and interior by Mark Whiteley Design.

It took a year to develop the design, structural drawings and technical engineering. All of this was done in close collaboration with the owner and his team of architects. The yard's largest building dock has been improved for the construction of the schooner.

The keel is now laid and the main deck carcass is being built.

The 81-metre aluminium sailboat model will be unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show on 27-30 September 2017.

Among the distinguishing features of the superstructure is an elevated captain's bridge with an internal control station. A second control post is located on the flybridge, which also features guest seating and sunbathing space.

«The Crows Nest» is hydraulically operated and allows guests to climb up the main mast to enjoy the spectacular views.

The flybridge encloses the cockpit deck below, where a bar, settees and a large table are located.

An innovative Rondal sliding door with individually operated glass panels allows a seamless transition from the cockpit to the main salon.

Below the aft deck there is storage for a large fleet of water toys including jet skis, tender, diving equipment, kayaks and SUP boards. «The crew tender is stowed in a special pocket» that can be transformed into a part of the cockpit.

In the salon there is a dining area for 16 people.

The sharply angled hull has been designed with a balance between good sailing performance and comfort. The straight bow, very long waterline and the large sail area provide the schooner with high speed and good performance.

The yacht will be handed over to the owner in 2020.
