Despite pressure from SAP Extreme Sailing Team, Phil Robertson's Oman Air team won the Extreme Sailing Series round in Hamburg, thus taking the lead in the overall standings. The Omani team also won the previous round of the series in Barcelona.

SAP Extreme managed to beat Oman Air in the last race of the final, but even this victory that gives twice more points was not enough to catch up with Phil Robertson's team. The Danes needed at least two boats between them and Oman Air to win.

«"We are over the moon," commented Oman Air skipper Phil Robertson. - It was a hard fought battle today. SAP Extreme Sailing Team did very well and took one win after another. We knew our lead was shrinking but we did not panic; that was a key factor». « I'm going to have a week off, that's for sure», - added the sailor who has not only two wins in the Extreme Sailing Series, but also the title in the M32 class.

SAP Extreme finished the event in second place with the Red Bull Sailing Team rounding out the top three with the Zhik Speed Machine Trophy for achieving the top speed of 23.9 knots amongst the participants.

Early leaders of the series, Team Alinghi, found themselves in penultimate place, their worst result since 2012.

With their disappointing performance in Hamburg, they slipped down to third place in the overall standings. The Swiss, the reigning series champions, had the lead in the Extreme Sailing Series over the first three legs.

The next round of the Extreme Sailing Series will start in Cardiff on August 25.
