The first boat show of the autumn opened in Amsterdam

The long-named HISWA in-water Boat Show in Amsterdam kicks off the autumn boat show season with Dutch thoroughness. Don't look for the glamour and pageantry of Cannes and Monaco - it's all business, very solid, down-to-earth and practical. The largest boat this year is model 680 by the French company Prestige but it looks like a casual guest among dozens of stocky steel trawler-type boats in the construction of which the Dutch are so strong. Here she is fond of the sturdy, small boats that are so adept at navigating the narrow canals and the rough Dutch coastal waters.

This year, approximately 250 boats from steel boats to inflatables can be seen at the docks at the renovated Amsterdam Marina, from runabouts, weekend yachts, tenders, sailing and racing boats, RIBs and catamarans. There is also an extensive educational and recreational programme for adults and children.
