Krasnodar outlined how the marina infrastructure of the Black Sea coast would be developed in the near future.

At the meeting, chaired by the Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage Khristofor Konstantinidi, they discussed the acute issue of lack of marinas on the Black Sea coast of Krasnodar.

Those marinas, which exist in the region, are overcrowded in the high season and can not fully meet the demand for yacht services. At the moment they can receive not more than 600 vessels.

Adding to the bleak picture is the fact that marina construction investment projects that exist today have lost their relevance, since they do not take into account tonnage and dimensions of modern yachts.

«Our task is to create in the short term conditions for the development of yacht tourism in the Kuban, to bring this area of tourism on the world level and thus improve the resort infrastructure of the coast of the region, but not to harm it», - stressed the Minister of Resorts.

«The owners of the boats from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of the country, that call at the ports of Krasnodar region, are ready to leave their yachts for» wintering, if the proper conditions are created. And it could well replenish local budget at the expense of taxes, because rent of mooring places and expenditures of tourists at the resort could bring hundreds of millions of rubles.

At the end of the meeting it was decided that by the end of the year there will be a single register of existing marinas in Kuban and new investment projects for the construction of marinas for ships.

A map of potential sites for the construction of marinas and intermediate parking lots will be drawn up, which will make it possible to create an area of so-called intensive yachting, where the distance between moorings will be no more than 20 miles.

In 2014, it was already reported that the region would get an international-class marina - in Gelendzhik. But given that in December 2016 the project was still at the development stage, it is unlikely to be built by the end of this year as planned. It remains to be hoped that this time the plans will be implemented and the yacht infrastructure of the Black Sea coast will soon be transformed.
