You don't have to have a huge superyacht to go on a serious ocean cruise. «However, when choosing a more modest-sized boat, you need to make sure she is packed to the max». The new 29m Lacey Kay Explorer from Nordhavn with a range of 8,500 nautical miles is just that.

The boat has everything you need to feel confident on it, even when you are very far from the shore. On Lacey Kay almost everything is a double copy, including hydraulics, electrics and electronics.

She can accommodate a maximum of ten passengers in 5 cabins, including a full-beam master suite on the upper deck. There will be room for 5 crew members.

The nearly 200 gross tons of interior space was designed by Scott Cole. The interiors are designed in the same style as the hull. The designer used walnut wood, granite, ceramic tiles and stainless steel fittings.

Lacey Kay has a spa pool and cocktail bar aboard, while the foredeck is designed for tender storage.

Sailing at 9-10 knots, the boat can travel up to 8,500 miles without refueling or needing to call at repair docks. An astonishing transatlantic range is provided by an increased fuel tank capacity of 26,500 litres.

Two 600 hp Caterpillar C-18 engines will give the expedition yacht a top speed of 12 knots. At the same time they are mounted in such a way that noise and vibration are barely audible on board.

The ambitious Lacey Kay Explorer is the second modified hull model Nordhavn 96which was designed on the basis of the popular Nordhavn 86.
