Viktor Khodyrev, chairman of the Sailing Sports Federation, proposed to build an international-level marina in Nakhodka and said that there were already investors willing to finance the project.

The mayor of the city supported the proposal and made sure that the selected area of 5 hectares was prepared for construction, as well as amendments to the Rules of Land Use and Development, so that the site could be used for the creation of sports infrastructure.

Although Nakhodka hosts annual sailing competitions, there are no modern marinas for yachts and boats on its coast.

«Aquatoria allows us to hold races among different classes of yachts. On the shore there is practically no infrastructure. All that today can be used is the pier and the lay-by left from "Antares"», - says Victor Khodyrev.

New yacht-club will be situated at the area of Priiskovy village. On its territory there will be repair docks, sailing children school, workshops, car parking, hotel, embankment, cafe and other objects for rest.

If the marina is built in time, the Russian national sailing team will be able to use the new site in preparation for the Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo in 2020.

In the Far East two years ago it was already promised to build a new world-class yacht club in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The facility was supposed to be commissioned by the end of 2016, but the territory of the ship repair plant «Fresa», which became the launching pad for the new marina, is still «bringing» up to international class.

However, Kamchatka yachtsmen have been luckier than their like-minded counterparts on the opposite side of the country. The yachting complex in Gelendzhik, which was planned to open at the end of this year, is still at the design stage.
