Chaparral and Robalo virtual reality boat test drive

American shipyards Chaparral and Robalo have developed a virtual reality boat test-drive simulator called DRIVR.» Now, to feel yourself aboard one of the models of interest, simply put on the glasses and sit at the console, and to «move to another boat - just choose it from the catalog.

Inspired by the visionary American writer Stanley Weinbaum's 1935 short story «Pygmalion's Glasses», today's Chaparral technology is designed to help boat dealers showcase boats to potential customers, including those under construction and in the design stage.

The software allows for an almost real experience in boat operation.

«Using the simulator, one can fire up the engine, go for a ride at» along dramatic scenery, speed up and slow down, and even stand behind the wheel and check out the inside and outside of the boat.

The video provided by the developers only hints at how exciting and rewarding using the DRIVR simulator can be.
