London Calling: a boat show kicks off in Britain's capital city

The London Boat Show, one of the world's largest boat shows with a rich history, will take place within the walls of the Excel exhibition complex from 10 to 14 January 2018.

This year the organizers will delight visitors to the exhibition with new entertainment zones, which will allow to enjoy water sports in the midst of winter in the centre of the metropolis and will brighten up the time until the beginning of the next season.

«Thus,» (The Beach Club) with real sand and a beach bar by the large 27-15 m pool, where you can dinghy, paddleboard or kayak, will be opened.

«» (The Legends Theatre) will be the place to listen to tales of famous yachtsmen accompanied by video on the big screen.

Alex Thomson will talk about his experience on the Vendee Globe solo circumnavigation, while Mike Golding will talk about saving Thomson in the Southern Ocean during the Velux 5 Oceans race.

Yachtswoman Sam Davies will share her impressions of the Volvo Ocean Race. In addition, YouTube stars Sailing La Vagabonde, a married couple, are expected to make their exhibition debut.

For beginners there is a special section at the show, where experts from Rockley yachting school will popularly explain what to do to become a yachtsman. There you will also be able to try on this role virtually with the help of VR-glasses: to race on the dinghy with other participants of virtual regatta. For those who have already mastered the basics of dinghy sailing the Wildwind team will hold a series of lectures about hydrofoil steering.

The main attraction, however, will be the boats.

The star of the London Boat Show is undoubtedly the new Sunseeker 76 Yacht, the largest yacht at the show.

Other interesting newbuilds include Riva Rivamare 38, a beautiful two-cabin windsurfer; Fjord 42 Open, a sport cruiser; Malibu Wakesetter 21VLX, a sport tugboat; Prestige 520, with an enormous flybridge for its length.

Fans of sails will be interested in Hanse 348, the smallest representative of the updated line of cruisers of the German manufacturer, successor of the popular 345th model. Also at the show you may inspect new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440.
