Team Nika, Vladimir Prosikhin's team representing Russia in Calero Marinas Cup 2018, the first regatta of the RC44 Champions Tour, finished second, only one point behind the winning Charisma.
The captains of both teams agreed that it was their best regatta in recent times, despite the weather conditions - or rather, thanks to them.
The sharp change of wind and its strengthening to 23 knots spiced up the decisive hours before the finish. For the final miles, the yachts sailed head-to-head in a head-to-head competition for the best steering skills.
«The wind was blowing from behind and we were all caught up in the middle of the boat, risking a flip every minute! Taking part in RC44 was a great pleasure, also because of the racing line-up. Today is definitely one of the best days in my racing career», - Vladimir Prosikhin shares his impressions.
The competition will continue in Portoroz, Slovenia, where the second regatta of RC44 Champions Tour will be held from 9 to 13 May.
