Drones won't get through! A system to protect superyachts from drones has been created

British company Martek Marine has launched a revolutionary product called D-Fence to protect superyachts and their owners from unwanted drone activity.

The know-how is capable of detecting and tracking the appearance of drones within a radius of 20 kilometers.

The system also creates a 500-meter zone around the yacht. Once the drone gets in, it blocks video transmission and the control signal, forcing the drone to make a forced landing or head back.

Drones have found mass application in both the commercial sphere and private life. Analysts at Gartner Inc estimate that 7,000,000 drones were sold worldwide last year, up 1,000% from 2015. That number is expected to rise to 12,000,000 by 2020.

Drone technology opens up a host of useful opportunities, but it also poses privacy and security risks, including for superyachts and their owners.

The D-Fence system has already proven successful in the commercial sector.

Martek Marine is now planning to launch the product into the superyacht market, where it is particularly relevant.

Drones are not the only new threat to yacht owners: IoT devices that are literally stuffed into modern boats are an easy target for hackers. There have already been cases of hackers intercepting ship control and personal information.
