Dutch shipyard Zeelander Yachts has decided to upgrade its flagship yacht Z55 by equipping her with the most powerful propulsion system from Volvo Penta. This move will make the 17m the fastest boat in the builder's history.
When ordering the new Z55 the client's wishes were very simple: «I want the fastest Zeelander ever built».
And the shipbuilder has been thorough in fulfilling the customer's requirements.
Fuel consumption at top speed is only 8% higher than at a cruising speed of 34 knots.
To fit the innovative engines, the designers had to increase the hull strength around the engine room and add several layers of laminate from bow to midship.
The boat has a large 7 square meters swimming platform which is equipped with stairs for comfortable going down while swimming and a bar for a good rest on the water.
The spacious garage is designed to store a 100hp Williams tender and two Seabobs, with which the owner and his guests will be able to explore the coastal waters to the max.
The shipyard has applied a special rubber coating to the cheekbones, added soundproofing to the engine room, and paid special attention to balancing the engines.
The first 55ft hull with a top-end engine will see the light of day this summer. It will be priced at €2,420,200.
In addition, the shipyard plans to create Z55 in «topless» variation, which will be named Z55 CORNICHE and differs from its sister with open saloon.
