Philippe Briand has unveiled a design for a 6.5m Flyacht winged monohull. The boat has been prototyped for the 20.6m AC75 class yachts that will compete in the «36th America's Cu»p in 2021 .

Renowned French naval architect and yacht designer for the last six editions of the America's Cup «» , Philippe Briand is committed to taking the innovative AC75 boat concept out of the world of professional sailing and making it accessible to a wider audience of yachtsmen.

«I want to introduce the millennial generation to how much fun and excitement sailing can be»," commented Briand.

He didn't just downsize an existing concept, but redesigned every inch of the new boat from the ground up to ensure it has the right safety and performance features.

The novelty is designed to handle a two-person crew with the ability to be unhooked.

Like her bigger sister, the Flyacht is equipped with two T-shaped foils instead of the usual ballast keel, and is also capable of automatically leveling out if there is a threat of a rollover.

The 21-footer will be able to lift off the water when reaching a speed of 10 knots, and in flight mode will be able to accelerate to 24 knots.

The new boat will be fitted with a soft-sail wing with a traditional corrugated sail plan that will be able to be flown into the cockpit. Unlike the AC75, which is limited to the 36th Cup protocol, the wing-sail control in flight mode will be automated for maximum safety.
